Carbon MBreda: Source of Organic Carbon and Nutrients, Carbon MBreda is an essential source of organic carbon and nutrients for aquarium and pond plants. Its main function is to provide a liquid carbon alternative that plants can absorb and enhance the process of photosynthesis.
The process is essential for the production of energy in the form of sugars, which is necessary for healthy plant growth. Liquid carbon, like Carbon MBreda, does not perform photosynthesis in aquatic plants. Instead, it provides an alternative source of carbon that plants can absorb and aid in the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a natural process performed by plants in which they use sunlight, carbon dioxide (CO2) and water to produce sugars (energy) and oxygen.
Carbon dioxide in the form of gas (CO2) is the most common source of carbon used by plants for photosynthesis. Liquid carbon provides a form of organic carbon that plants can use to benefit their functions. Therefore, while liquid carbon does not perform photosynthesis on its own, it does provide the necessary elements for plants to perform this process.
How this process works: Mbreda carbon is an organic compound + nutrients that is used in aquariums, which can be biodegraded by certain bacteria. The process generally involves the transformation of carbon through several metabolic steps:
Oxidation: Mbreda carbon can be initially oxidized by bacteria that use it as a carbon source. This process breaks the compound down into simpler products.
Metabolic decay: After oxidation, the intermediate products of carbon are further degraded. This can include conversion into smaller acids and other intermediate molecules.
Production of CO?: Finally, these intermediate products can be fully mineralized, resulting in the production of CO?. This process is part of total biodegradation, where the organic compound is transformed into its basic components. These bacteria play an important role in organic compounds and aquatic environments, converting these compounds into less complex forms, such as CO?. The efficiency of this process may vary depending on the conditions of the aquarium and the species of bacteria present in the substrate and biological filtration.
Carbon MBreda is safe and can be used with fish and invertebrates, as long as the instructions on this packaging are followed.
Important: Never increase the dosage indicated, as it can be harmful to fish and even cause fatal damage to the most sensitive species.
This product is not suitable for saltwater aquariums.
Some varieties of plants may not support the use of carbon in the water, being the species: Elodeas, Valisnérias, Cabombas, riccia among others with sensitive leaves. If in doubt, test with a lower dosage before following the recommended dosage.
